Meatfest 2008
Saturday, March 8th, 2008That didn’t go well.
That didn’t go well.
I have two one-day tournaments this weekend. I really don’t want to go.
So, I’ve been listening to Daft Punk, mostly Discovery, since Friday. And they have yet to get old, I’ve listened to some other stuff so I don’t go into a coma, but I still love the music. Yesterday, Trung and I danced to it on the way to Ultimate with it blaring from the iShit (dance party to go) and on the way back Alex, Sierra (not so much), and I danced to it, really, we were walking in tune to the music; it was epic. I need to make a Daft Funk playlist of my favorite songs, i.e. “One More Time,” “Aerodynamic,” “Digital Love,” “Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger,” “Da Funk,” “Robot Rock,” and “Around the World.” I really love the synth solo in Aerodynamic, EPIC.
Well, we didn’t exactly do well today. At least we can say we’re consistent. We didn’t do poorly, we just aren’t the team we had last year. We played well, but our organization and timing is lacking. We did better in the second game today; we kept a number of points going for a long time. Oh well, we still have a good number of tournaments ahead of us.
So, today didn’t exactly go well. It was fun, but…we didn’t exactly win any games. We put up a good fight, but not good enough. Midway through the second game, my left calf cramped up and took me out for the rest of the day (2 more games). It was weird, it’s never happened to me, I was running and I felt some pain that went away quickly, but then a few seconds later my calf locked up completely and I couldn’t stand. It was less than fun. I’m still limping. Plus it was raining, so I was sitting on the sideline freezing my ass off. And that’s just day one…
Fuck, I have to get up at 5:15 tomorrow to go to an Ultimate tournament…fuck.
[EDIT] 5:30
Last year, we tried to change the ultimate team’s name, but failed. This year we may actually manage to change it. We had a brainstorming session today, but most of the names weren’t that great. Then, someone suggested something like Kirby Hell Hounds and that made me think of demons, which made me think of daemon. Daemons were/are Greek spirits, see here, but it is also the name for a computer program that runs in the background without user interaction, see here. It can be pronounced either demon or daymon (I like the second better). I thought this fitting, because we wanted a name that suggested that we had some fight in us plus it shows are geekiness without telling anyone directly. Here’s a logo that I came up with:
