Change is Good?

Sunday, August 12th, 2007

So I decided to change the site up again…at first I thought it looked good, but then…it’s still a work in progress.

Shadows

Friday, June 8th, 2007

So a while back I was trying to get dynamic scalable shadows working. Let me tell you, they’re hard. Specifically making them browser compatible. What works in Firefox, rarely works the same in IE, which is really annoying. But this time, I think I’ve got it. I know this will sound bad, but I had to use tables to get them to be browser compatible. My understanding is that tables are considered the poor coders website tool, but I had no other choice. Well…I guess I did and there definitely are sites out there with dynamic shadows that use divs, but I couldn’t for the life of me figure out how to get those damn divs–oh wait I did, but of course IE didn’t interpret it correctly. Stupid IE.

Webcam

Monday, March 12th, 2007

So on Friday, my boss (Reggie) decides he wants a web cam in the computer room so that he can keep an eye on us. His web cam is almost the same as the one he gave me, but better. Now, when he first gave my web cam I was all excited, but then I realized that you had to sign up for an account on this stupid site to use it as a web cam, what bullshit. So after some fruitless searching for an alternative, I gave up. When Reggie asked me to set his camera up as a web cam I was doubtful I could find anything. I search for a long while with little luck. But then, 1/2 an hour before I went home I stumbled upon this: Yawcam.com. It was a miracle, a free-ware java web cam server! Unfortunately before I could figure it out, my father came to take me home. I’ve been playing with it for the past three days and I finally figured out a way to get it to work. There is probably a better way, but this will have to do for now…

I don’t get it…

Tuesday, March 6th, 2007

There are so many hits, but not one comment. Is some bot spamming the site, or are a lot of people visiting, but have nothing to say? My guess is the first, because I know that maybe five people max view my site.

In the last two days, the hit counter has skyrocketed. My guess is someone is spamming the site. Oh well…

Face Lift

Friday, December 22nd, 2006

So Winter break started today. I wanted to spend the day playing Halo, but I had to go Commercial Holiday shopping. I spent most of the afternoon trying to figure out what to get two of my friends. It would have been easier had I not been on a budget. After getting home I sat in front of the TV and fried my brain for a while. Then around, oh I don’t know, 9:30-10:00 I started working on changing a few things on the site. I fixed the “Flash Stuff” page; it no longer barrages you with loud, obnoctious noises. It now has images and links to the movies. I also made Jar Player shinier and made it so I can embed specific movies in a web page, like this:

videos/JarPlayer.swf?videoName=thewave.flv” width=”600″ height=”450″>

I also modified the clock, making it slightly more readable and making the minute ring red instead of white. If you have any comments or suggestions I’d love to hear them, of course I probably won’t listen to your suggestions.
Update: Very late…I also finally put some effort into making my site look ok in Internet Explorer, it was a pain in the ass.

EQ Engine Multi-player Alpha

Saturday, November 25th, 2006

Here it is as I promised, the first released version of my new multi-player game. It’s still a long way from being finished, but I think it’s turning out pretty good. So far it is possible for multiple people to connect to a running on one of the players computer and shoot at each other.
Current Abilities:
—–*simple multi-player game play (not yet supported here on the site):
———-*shooting each other
———-*dying
———-*no respawn as of yet
———-*no points as of yet

—–*3 weapons including:
———-*pistol
———-*smg (not final model)
———-*gatling gun (kick ass)

—–*some simple AI for test gameplay
———-*same as weapons

Instructions: Use your mouse to guide you…umm…whatever the fuck he is around. Move forward towards your mouse with “W” and backwards with “S”. Move side-to-side with “A” and “D” (the controls are shit). Pick up weapons and ammo by moving over them. Take out a weapon with the keys “1″ (pistol), “2″ (smg), or “3″ (gatling). Aim with your mouse and fire by clicking.
*HINT: Shoot the things that shoot you.
That’s about it. And remember it’s a work in progress.

P.S. Which would be better a shotgun or UT’s Flak Cannon?

Lost

Wednesday, October 4th, 2006

Well the new season of Lost has finally arrived. Although, at the beggining the first episode looked promising, it seemed a little lacking. As most people probably guessed, it focuses on Jack, Kate, and Sawyer and doesn’t mention what happened in the hatch, or anyone else for that matter. Looks as though their saving the hatch for later.

New information:
1) “Henry Gale”‘s name is in fact Ben and as I suspected it appears as though he is in fact the leader (even though when captured he says “he’ll kill me”).
2)The “others” lead a more civilized life then they first let on.
3)Jack is being held in the “Hydra” and Kate and Sawyer are being held in bear cages.

Other than that we didn’t learn much from this episode. I’m planning on making a Lost site at lost.jar42.com which will have “stuff” on it. Yeah whatever…now I sleep.
